'Price Per Stem' by Anna Ridler with Avant Arte sees its full series of 25 artworks acquired by Seedphrase.
Each unique work is a combination of physical artwork comprised of 56 photographic images of single peonies, moving digital image, and dynamic annotation presenting an "obviously false and slightly absurd" cash valuation of the peonies.
'Price Per Stem' continues Ridler's exploration of data's emotive potential and what constitutes value. While the series initially listed at $10,520 per limited edition, the full series sale price is undisclosed.
Via Anna Ridler:
"Price per stem continues my interest into flowers, flower markets, the ridiculousness of trying to place a financial value on nature. Using a peony - a flower whose short bloom window is changing due to climate change - I explore the complex dynamics of economic systems and global trade of the international flower markets and the absurdity of such.”
Via Seedphrase:
"Anna is internationally recognised for her work at the intersection of art, technology and data. Often exploring the fragility and subjectivity of value. Making it a fitting addition to my growing AI art collection."
Via Abigail Miller, Avant Arte:
"I think it shows the importance of supporting ambitious projects by artists. We helped source hundreds of peonies for Anna to organize the underlying dataset and research of this project. These will be a foundation she might be using in future projects for years to come as well, meaning Price Per Stem is a first stop in a longer journey and a foundational work. Additionally the first work at this scale commercially available by Anna."
Wednesdays are for 'Winds of Yawanawa' by Refik Anadol.

Eyes Open:
'p5.js output #1' by Lauren Lee McCarthy: Part of PROOF Grails V, 18 of these editions exist. It is currently listed for 1 ETH. The collection is a bit hard to find, so likely under the radar.
Context: While I haven't done much of the above, with this year's Subscribership kicked off, I'll put a few educated opinions out there. I am not doing much collecting myself (24 Hours of Art takes all my time), so there is no conflict. Let me know if you enjoy this experiment.
Today Reported:
Sales thresholds of (USD) $10k+ Collection, $1k+ 1/1, $3k+ 1/1/X, and $1k+ Edition artworks
Under threshold but interesting to me is Parrott completing his conceptual artwork experiment of 'ctrl c' 1/1 on SuperRare and 'ctrl v' 24 hour open edition on Rodeo. Each is an identical artwork, essentially challenging the meaning of name and token vs. artwork. As a singular event (I don't love it if repeated), it is intriguing. He shares the final results with Dave Krugman collecting the 1/1 for 0.2 ETH on SuperRare and 155 mints generating $24 (yes, $24 total) on Rodeo.
The seventh ART of 2025 is also its first GIF, inspired by Damien Hirst's The Currency, Modest, and MaNiC. In 2024, we averaged once per three weeks in revealing an alternate format (.gif, .mp4, .glb) vs. still image.
Yesterday saw a surge of 15 subscriptions. We love to see it. Early days.
