Jack Butcher Highlights Hardware

"No matter how art is framed, labeled, or verified, its meaning ultimately resides in how it's perceived."

Jack Butcher launches the 'Hardware' collection with Highlight. It is minted on Ethereum Layer 1 and ties to its "predecessor" artwork edition '1988', originally minted on Ethereum Layer 2.

While '1988' was a commentary on physical provenance, 'Hardware' is a commentary on physical authenticity.

Via Jack Butcher:
"'Hardware' exposes the fragility of physical authenticity systems by turning their visual cues into deliberate fictions."

Each 'Hardware' token requires an additional 1 '1988' to be burned. Currently the collection is at 138 artworks, meaning the next one requires 139 '1988' burns to be created. The maximum theoretical collection is 544 pieces, as 139k '1988' editions remain.

After the news, 2,751 sales are in for 19.37 ETH total on '1988', with its list now at 0.003 ETH.

The 'Hardware' secondary has seen 11 sales for 8.35 ETH, with its list now at 0.399 ETH.

Closing Thoughts

With the holidays behind us, we should see the art market grind back to life this next week-plus.

No rest for Jack Butcher. The artist continues to innovate across chains and layers, this time using Ethereum L1 and L2 to deliver an interesting concept and statement. There's a reason he occupies rarified air when it comes to volume, and I may have to dust off a nickname I gave him in 2023 - "The Volume King".

A fresh wallet continues to target Hackatao, first starting with the PUNKS Makersplace edition and continuing now with two interesting 1/1 choices. They are technically Edaxer remixes of an original Hackatao that encouraged derivative works. This wallet has also collected two 'THC' by Alotta Money (an Async Art collection).

C34 looks to be going all-in on talented sculptor Nils Hansen, collecting several works directly from SuperRare and another few on OpenSea. It's fun to see someone go all the way down a rabbit hole and come out the other side with conviction.

Today Reported:
