Art Market Highlights

Ex Nihilo (Cosmos)’ by Casey REAS closes in ranked auction with Art Blocks and Feral File, and the 1/1/256 collection sees a final price of 0.05 ETH each and 12.75 ETH in total.

The collection revolves around the dodecahedron, one of five Platonic solids. Future works by REAS will address the remaining four.

Two significant 1-of-1 artworks move on the secondary market:

  • Animator Creating Animation’ by DeeKay is acquired for 19.3 ETH by Antxx_vault. The artwork was originally minted in June 2021 via SuperRare, and it is a 2:37 short film that received a Staff Pick from Vimeo.

  • Aseptic Needs’ by Skygolpe is acquired for 4.49 ETH by BatSoupYum. The artwork was originally minted in February 2021 via SuperRare with the description: “I was trapped in an invisible cage, then suddenly I realized that the key was invisible too.”

Art on Tezos

Let’s have a weekly look at items of interest across the Tezos ecosystem:

Greenhouse of Service’ by Emi Kusano tops the week in sales, as it is acquired for 3,000 XTZ ($1,096 USD). The work is part of Kusano’s ‘Office Ladies: Rituals of Overflow’, an AI photographic series exploring gender norms and biases. It is one of three in the ‘Scenes’ Artverse Exhibition, presented at Paris Photo 2025.

It was none other than art critic Jerry Saltz sharing the work of RJ on Instagram, commenting “The fragmented look and flickering electrified feel of modern life” on top of a carousel that included ‘Fine Dining’. The 1-of-1 work was acquired by Donovan three weeks ago for 3,000 XTZ ($1,184 USD).

Algorithm Victims Ruin Art History’ is live on Objkt and thus far the 38 artwork collection’s 5.7k XTZ in sales are topped by ‘The Star Guardian’ by The Myth, a reinterpretation of van Gogh’s ‘The Starry Night’.

Incoming is ‘Can They Suffer?’ by David Young. The 10 artwork collection wonders “whether AI systems might experience something analogous to distress—and whether we would care if they did.” Curated by The Second-Guess, the works open at 1,100 XTZ each at 1:00pm ET.

RD Report

Yesterday many reminisced about the 5 year anniversary of the $69M auction heard around the world. I remember starting a livestream bright and early at 9am ET that day in 2021 alongside Parrott (up on the West Coast at 6am ET) to capture the final hours of the Christie’s auction. As we all now know, it… escalated. What a time to be alive. Happy anniversary, Beeple!

How about Aku creator Micah Johnson? The recently released Aku: Journey to Ibra is a NYT Best Seller and 50th on the USA Today list of all books sold in the US. Here’s his video share of the moment. A Web3 born character continues his journey across MLB broadcasts, art fairs, schools, libraries and bookstores. Inspiring!

Today Reported:
Sales thresholds of 2 ETH+ Collection, 0.2 ETH+ 1/1, 0.4 ETH+ 1/1/X, and 0.2 ETH+ Edition
