An ‘Economy of Words’.

Jack Butcher’s 2,048 word collection closes 2,048 unique auctions for $68,219 USD in total, an average cost of $33.31 USD per word.

The collection revolves around the idea: “in the right order, words are money.” Each word - one of the 2,048 from the BIP39 English word list used for seed phrases - is placed on a card, which is then rarity graded based on the word itself, not its condition.

Ultimately the two highest auction results were the two rarest words and only Grade 10s in the collection: ‘ZOO’ ($1,697 USD) and ‘QUESTION’ ($1,112 USD).

Each collector now has a day to make a final decision: retain a physical card or convert it (forfeiting the physical) to a digital version. At the moment, 1,269 words (62%) are marked digital, with 779 (38%) marked physical.
