‘Riddikulus!’ by Alpha Centauri Kid sells for $100,000 USD to DoubleB.

Alpha Centauri Kid penned an article reflecting on the 1-of-1 work, inspired by ‘Stańczyk’ by Jan Matejko. He explained beginning with the concept of death personified as a jester, blocking out the scene, imbuing life into it, and the decision to add animation.

In the artist’s words:

“this work represents my fear of death, and the fact that my only rebuttal is to mock it with art eternal.

i didn't agree to this deal which declares we all must die. i rebuke it!

he must be humiliated.”

‘Relief’ by Mendezmendez is acquired by University of Pennsylvania Psychiatry + Neuroscience, via AOTM Gallery.

The 1-of-1 artwork was commissioned by Professor Greg Corder to depict a multiyear study on pain and emotion, as well as its inclusion in Nature, a scientific journal.

“As an artist with a deep interest in science and health, I was truly honored to create a piece of art for a discovery that has the potential to save thousands of lives that are lost to opioid addiction every year, something that my family has suffered from very closely.

It was also a huge honor to onboard Upenn into web3 by minting the artwork on my series The Present. The physical reproduction of the artwork will also be on display at the Department of Psychiatry and Neuroscience at UPenn.”
