Story time.
One of my favorite aspects of a blockchain landscape with all sorts of nuances is how a functionality deep cut can surprise and delight.
Take ‘Genesis’ by Visualize Value (Jack Butcher). Yesterday it closed in auction via SuperRare for 0.544 ETH.
One interesting thing about SuperRare (in my opinion, one of their strongest attributes) is on-chain bidding. We can see and retain an artwork’s history, especially fun for wild auctions. Each bid or offer is a transaction, and that means auction bidding funds must be canceled and reclaimed after the fact if unsuccessful.
The auction won for 0.544 ETH? It was an artwork originally minted in September 2023. It was also an artwork with a still active 5 ETH offer, placed on September 5, 2023. Thus far the current auction winner has not accepted it… but they could anytime.
