MoMA Permanence

The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) welcomes twenty-three artworks spanning CryptoPunks, Chromie Squiggles, and Rafaël Rozendaal on a milestone day.

The sweeping donations are made possible by a host of companies and individuals, including each artist, 1OF1, Larva Labs, Fellowship, MoMA’s Stuart Comer & Michelle Kuo, and - essentially - the original collectors, all listed below.

1OF1: “We are all profoundly grateful to the artists and collectors who supported this important donation, uniting the collective generosity of this amazing community. MoMA has been championing transformative art of the modern era for nearly a century and remains at the vanguard as we peer into the digital frontier.”

The Rafaël Rozendaal artworks come via Fellowship and showsupnaked.eth and include “six on-chain non-fungible tokens, each realized as JavaScript generative code on Ethereum, and a landmark website-based work”.

Fellowship: “This gift reflects Fellowship’s commitment to championing artists working with technology and to supporting the long-term public stewardship of digital art through leading institutional collections.”
